Restoration referrals

Getting restoration referrals from insurance agents and plumbers

Plumbers and insurance agents see water jobs before anyone else. Here’s how to become the company they mention, without crossing any lines.

“Restoration marketing to insurance agents” gets about 90 searches a month in the US (Semrush, October 2026). Small number, big jobs. Referral partners send some of the best water jobs there are, because the homeowner already trusts whoever sent them.

Plumbers first

A plumber is often first on the scene: the burst supply line, the failed water heater, the backed-up sewer. The plumber fixes the leak. The homeowner asks, “Who do I call about the water?”

  • Show up. Visit the shop, meet the dispatcher, leave cards and magnets. Do it again in three months.
  • Be reliable. The plumber’s reputation is on the line when they mention you. Answer fast, show up when you say, and leave the plumber looking good.
  • Close the loop. Thank them after a job. A short text is enough.
  • Send work back. When you find a plumbing problem on a job, call them.

Insurance agents

Agents hear about losses first, and homeowners ask them who to call. The homeowner chooses who to hire, so the goal is to be the name the agent feels safe mentioning.

  • Explain how you work with claims. How you document, how you communicate with adjusters, what the homeowner pays up front. Put it on a page on your site, and give agents the link.
  • Be useful. A short guide for policyholders on what to do in the first hour of a water loss is something an agent can share.
  • Follow your state’s rules. Rules on referral payments and inducements vary by state and by insurer. When in doubt, don’t pay for referrals.

Property managers

Multi-unit buildings have more water losses than single homes. A page for property managers, a fast response promise you can keep, and a single point of contact go a long way.
