How Local Services Ads charge, what decides your placement, and how to tell from your own numbers whether they pay for your company.
Searches about Local Services Ads carry some of the highest click prices we’ve seen: “google local services ads cost” has an average CPC of $209.74, and “google guaranteed” $161.71 (Semrush, US, October 2026). That’s because a lot of money is chasing that panel at the top of the results.
Local Services Ads (LSAs) charge per lead, not per click. A lead is usually a call or message from the ad. You set a budget, and Google shows your ad in the LSA panel above the regular ads and the map pack for searches in your service area. Lead prices vary by trade, by market and over time, so check the current price for your trade and area in your own account.
If a lead isn’t valid (wrong trade, wrong area, spam), you can dispute it in your account. Keep track; disputed credits add up.
Google says LSA ranking depends on things like your proximity to the customer, your reviews and rating, how responsive you are, your business hours and whether you’re open, and the complaints it receives. In practice, reviews and answering the phone matter a lot.
LSAs and your Google Business Profile both lean on reviews, so the work overlaps. Many owners run LSAs while their own rankings build, then compare cost per job. We don’t manage ads, but we give LSA its own tracking number so the comparison is in your monthly report.
We track every channel separately and build the profile and pages that bring in calls you don’t pay for.
